Tribune Tower

The most interesting and historical façade in the city

Tara and I might be journalism nerds, but we promise the Tribune Building is a site capable of impressing pretty much anyone. It was erected in 1922, and the design was an entry into the Tribune’s international design competition to create “the most beautiful office building in the world.” As the name implies, it houses the Chicago Tribune, Tribune Company and WGN radio.

Circle the building and search for stones and detritus from some of the most famous and historical spots in the world, such as the Taj Mahal, the Parthenon, the Alamo and the Berlin Wall. They’re all labeled and built right into the neo-Gothic building, which is located off Michigan Avenue, near the scenic Chicago River.
