A legendary city spot where old media types would gather to drink and get the scoop
The Billy Goat Tavern has a handful of locations around Chicago, but we really can only speak for the one we’ve visited near the Tribune Tower and Wrigley building. It is down below the hubbub of Michigan Ave., and with it’s dark interior could really be the definition of “tavern.” Don’t expect an extensive menu; the simple yet tasty offerings of “cheezborgers” and “cheeps” might basic, but are definitely tasty. But do expect a crowd of characters and very welcoming owners. Since it’s a Chicago landmark, a fair share of out-of-towners probably will occupy seats and giggle at the menu.
